On April 15, 2026, the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) hosted an international educational course on rare skeletal diseases, bringing together physicians and researchers from across the world. The course aimed to advance knowledge and raise awareness of rare skeletal disorders among specialists from diverse medical disciplines.
The event was conducted in a hybrid format, with over 100 participants attending in person and approximately 400 joining online.
The program featured lectures by leading international experts and ERN BOND members, complemented by interactive discussions that fostered a highly engaging academic environment.
The interesting presentation addressing the management of patients with osteogenesis imperfecta was presented by our Coordinator, Luca Sangiorgi.
Ukrainian scientists from the Center for Rare Skeletal Diseases (Kyiv, Institute of Gerontology) also participated in the course (photo). Their engagement facilitated meaningful scientific exchange with international colleagues and strengthened opportunities for future global collaboration to improve the care of patients with rare diseases.
Overall, the course provided an important platform for knowledge dissemination, international scientific cooperation, and professional development. Such initiatives are essential for enhancing early diagnosis and optimizing treatment strategies for patients with rare skeletal diseases worldwide.
